Big Iron Coffee Company was started by Bowen and Nina Rodkey to provide premium coffee in Steamboat Springs. They love coffee and source high-quality beans from responsible growers.

We focus on small-batch roasting to ensure a consistently great product. Our commitment extends to the community; we support local organizations, believing that a strong community enhances the coffee experience. As we grow, we aim to build connections and celebrate coffee culture, one cup at a time.

The Roaster and the Master

Bowen, the passionate founder of Big Iron Coffee Co, has dedicated his craft to the art of coffee roasting. Through a combination of sourcing high-quality beans and a keen understanding of flavor profiles Big Iron Coffee creates an exceptional coffee experiences.

Bowen makes sure every roast shows the distinct qualities of its origin, appealing to both casual drinkers and coffee experts. Our 10kg Proaster Coffee Roaster is always in action as we provide coffee to our shops and local businesses. Although Bowen loves small batch light roasts, he has applied his coffee skills to create the Stampede Blend and Black Meridian for fans of darker roasts.

The Boss Man

Our fearless leader and roast master. Bowen has been roasting coffee since he came out the womb. This mans incredible talent and flavor pallet has lead to our success.

When he isn’t slinging bean juice you can find Bowen out hunting, at our local breweries, or hanging with his family

If you see this man, expect lots of random noises, and to leave feeling better about your day than before you ran into him!

The Boss Lady

Although she like to remain behind the scenes, Big Iron Coffee would not be what it is to day without Nina.

Nina is the coffee countess, when she is at the roaster Shit. Gets. Done.

You can always count on punk rock blasting in Nina’s presence.

When she is not at the roaster Nina can be found hanging with her daughter, or prepping goods at our coffee shops

Knuckles

Ruby, aka “Knuckles,” is our resident sweetheart. That being said, don’t let her wonderful smile and kind personality fool you… This girl is a killer when it comes to roasting.

Ruby is currently Studying to be a dental Hygienist and splits her time between roasting, school, and being a barista

When she isn’t working you can find Ruby hanging with her four dogs, running her clothing stand, or enjoying the outdoors.

Skipper

Luke is our support man. Not only can you find him roasting coffee and slinging bean juice. He is also our tech man working on managing wholesale.

When he is not working with coffee you can find Luke teaching climbing at Steamboat climbing collective.

Outside of work Luke enjoys spending his time outside, wether that be skiing, biking, climbing, or just sitting by the river enjoying a good book.
